The village of Whitehall was primarily small houses and farms through the 1940s and 1950s. The town eventually filed for incorporation and experienced a period of growth shortly after. The borders grew through the 1950s as new shopping centers and restaurants appeared throughout the town. The city also experienced a brief period in the spotlight as tourists traveling the National Road often stopped for the night.

Growth remained slow and steady through the start of the 21st century. It wasn’t until 2012 and they experienced a sudden increase in development and economy. Over the next decade, dozens of new businesses would open in the city. Most notably was the Heartland Bank with its impressive 60,000 square foot facility. The growing economy makes Whitehall a great destination for hard workers and entrepreneurs. But the town itself is still somewhat limited in terms of entertainment. Its most well-known attractions are the local brewery and several small parks. If you are an avid outdoorsman, then you’ll most certainly enjoy camping in the local area.

If you prefer a more active nightlife, then the capital city of Columbus, Ohio isn’t far away. You can easily enjoy a day hiking near Alum Creek before retreating to Columbus to enjoy a late-night club or bar. Overall, the town has plenty to offer new residents and is booming with potential.
